Summary:
The Executive Director, with the Board of Directors, is responsible for ensuring the long-term viability of the organization, including ongoing development of a comprehensive budget and securing adequate funding to support the staff, programming, and Alcohol and other Substance Use Disorder (AUD/SUD) recovery support services provided by North Central Vermont Recovery Center (NCVRC). The Executive Director is the acting representative of NCVRC. Their leadership should be grounded in recovery-oriented values and ensure all programming fosters a safe, inclusive, welcoming, and trauma-informed community. In addition, the Executive Director oversees all programs developed and operated by
NCVRC, ensuring all aspects align with its Mission and Vision, and adhere to Local, State, and Federal requirements. This position is solely accountable to the Board of Directors.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • ​Develop an annual operating budget in partnership with the Finance Officer and the Board of Directors. 
  • Responsible for managing grant deliverables and reporting requirements 
  • Comply with base funding requirements and reporting for, Department. of Substance Use within the Vermont Dept. of Health, to ensure timely execution of grants, deliverables and invoicing
  • Provide monthly reports to the NCVRC Board of Directors and participate in monthly NCVRC board meetings 
  • Partner with the Board of Directors in implementing NCVRC’s strategic plan to guide the organization 
  • Develop and implement an operational plan that fosters efficiency, cooperation, and empowers others to take on leadership responsibilities within the organization 
  • Act as a community leader, representing the organization through correspondence and public appearances 
  • Participate in advocacy measures, including legislative, to support NCVRC along with the partnering community services, and the overall recovery community
  • Establish positive working relationships and collaborative arrangements with stakeholders, including, but not limited to, community partners, funding sources, legislative representatives, Recovery Partners of Vermont, and other relevant entities, to help achieve the goals of the Organization 
  • Research funding sources, lead in the development and execution of fundraising plans, manage donations, and develop funding proposals (grants) to achieve the necessary funds to for sustain or increase the organization’s financial viability 
  • Partner with the Board of Directors to execute an annual fundraiser 
  • Serve as a Member of the Board of Directors with the Recovery Partners of Vermont
  • Ensure the implementation and maintenance of the NCVRC Policies and Procedures
  • Oversee management of adequate staffing, determine staffing requirements, including job descriptions, recruitment, interviewing, and staff selection and training. 
  • Ensure NCVRC operates its premises (facility) in accordance with State and Local regulations. 

Qualifications: 
 
  • Reside within 30 minutes of Morrisville is required. A Valid Driver’s License; reliable transportation 
  • Senior leadership experience desired 
  • Experience with and/or clear understanding of Substance Use Disorder and the aspects of recovery. *If in recovery, at least 5 years in recovery is preferred 
  • Have and maintain a Vermont Certified Recovery Coach credential. If not yet credentialed, certification must be obtained within 180 days of the date of hire 
  • Excellent written and verbal skills 
  • College degree or equivalent experience working in social services 
  • Background in, or extensive knowledge of Human Resources 
  • Demonstrates ability to be fair and compassionate when working with staff, volunteers, and guests 
  • Experience with the development of policies and procedures, operations, marketing and public relations, fundraising, grant writing, financial management, and administration, particularly within the Human Services and Not For Profit sectors. 
  • Adept in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and various other digital social media and data management platforms 
  • Familiarity with the social service resources and agencies in the Lamoille Valley Area is preferred.
