Job Title:  Certified Recovery Coach

Reports to:  Recovery Coaching Programs Manager

Type: Part-time, 5 hours per week

Summary:

Vermont Certified Recovery Coaches at North Central Vermont Recovery Center (NCVRC) provide direct peer recovery support services to individuals in or seeking recovery from substance use disorders (SUD).  Additionally, NCVRC offers Recovery Coaching services to family members or loved ones affected by an individual’s SUD.  This role supports individuals on all paths to recovery by listening, helping to identify and set goals, and providing additional recovery support options through community resource navigation. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide direct services to individuals in or seeking recovery

  • Provide support and resource information to family members, as necessary and appropriate

  • Enhance opportunities for individuals to become familiar with NCVRC and other local community resources available

  • Assist individuals in identifying and developing natural community supports to foster independence and community integration

  • Document program participant sessions through paper and electronic surveys and forms

  • Promote the RC program and other support services offered at NCVRC with local community partners

  • Model and exemplify recovery principles to show by example that recovery is possible, and utilize personal and professional experience to promote wellness and recovery

  • Abide by HIPAA, 42 CFR, and any additional regulations set forth by NCVRC

  • Other duties as assigned  

 

Qualifications:

  • A self-identified person in recovery from a substance use disorder, who meets the requirement of 2 years of continuous SUD recovery, or who can otherwise demonstrate stability in their recovery

  • Preferred Recovery Center experience/affiliation.

  • Have and maintain a Vermont Certified Recovery Coach credential.  If not yet credentialed, certification must be obtained within 180 days of the date of hire

  • Experience with or educational background related to recovery concepts and practices of recovery that honor any pathway to recovery

  • Organized, self-motivated, creative, and committed to working in a diverse environment

  • Excellent written and oral communication

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and comfortable working with all levels of professionals.

  • Preferred Advanced motivational interviewing skills

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

  • A Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation

  • Recovery Coaches will be required to attend various trainings, paid for by NCVRC

  • This position is subject to satisfactory results of a Background check
